What to bid?
Here is your hand:
♠T4
♥AJ643
♦Q74
♣JT6
Your LHO (Left Hand Opponent) is Dealer and opens the bidding 1
♥.
You wish you were their Partner, but you are not. Now YOUR Partner bids 1♠. Your RHO (Right Hand Opponent) Passes.
What is your bid? You are playing match points.

At the table this hand bid 2♥.
Now (to be fair) her Partner knew exactly what she had. HEARTS.
But this bid shouldn't show ♥. The OPPONENTS have FIVE ♥ in ONE HAND! There is NO WAY this hand could ever want to play in ♥.
You do have a nice hand. (Nothing great.) But you do want to respond to Partner.
A nice bid with this hand is 1NT.
That tells Partner you have a balanced hand with about 8-10 HCP and a guaranteed ♥ trick. (That's the stopper we talked about recently.)
What do you think? Better bid? I can tell you right now Partner would rather play in NT than in ♥. And so should YOU!
